When a UFO event occurs, it usually happens in waves; a large number of sightings happen in a short period of time. That is what happened with the wave of UFOs from Canada and the physical evidence it left in the form of a copper plate that has not been able to be deciphered.

In 1967, in the city of Edmonton, a series of strange events alerted the population. In the early hours of May 8, a wave of UFOs would be seen in the sky. The strangest thing is that this event would leave a mysterious alien copper plate as evidence.

A wave of UFOs in Canada

At 2 a.m. in 1967, a 14-year-old boy named Ricky Banyard spotted a spaceship while walking through Mount Pleasant Cemetery . He described it as spherical, with red and green lights and the top and bottom spinning.

A beam of white light emanated from the bottom, like some sort of searchlight . The little boy went in search of his friend Glenn Coates and they both observed with binoculars on the top of one of the trees in the cemetery.

It was between 60 to 90 meters high and emitted a muffled whistling sound as it floated. Suddenly, it dropped a kind of rectangular-shaped light about 15 centimeters from the ground. This turned white and heated the surface .

When the young people came out of the tree to get a better look, the light disappeared, then a noise similar to airplane engines spread throughout the place. All the lights went out and there were like 7 or 8 explosions to finally take off.

When they inspected the area they found some black rectangular stripes, Banyard made a sketch of the UFO. When word spread of what had happened, several people flocked to the cemetery hoping to see him.

2 days later, a middle-aged couple who lived nearby also witnessed an object identical to the one the boys saw. 10 days later, a 29-year-old school janitor named Jack Strangman also reported seeing a whitish, oval-shaped object over the graveyard.

Thus, many other witnesses began to report the presence of these objects, which brought great media attention to the wave of UFOs.

Mysterious copper plate

On November 4, 1967, an Italian immigrant known as “LR” was on his way home from dinner with his friends. It was 11:30 pm when he sat down to smoke in his room.

From the window he watched as a bright red light streaked across the sky over the Saskatchewan River, near the Riverside Municipal Miniature Golf Course .

The object approached the ground and stopped, although he thought it was a plane , he quickly realized it was not. Curiosity led him to look at it more closely, noticing how it was round and had a bright , pulsating red light , almost blinding.

The light suddenly went out and a series of blue rings began to emanate to the ground, until the red light shone again. Another dimmer light appeared at the bottom and descended until it touched the ground. It appeared to be another smaller ship.

It hovered over the golf course, buzzing, until it landed again, only to “join” the larger ship and disappear.

Out of curiosity, LR decided to take a look the next day. In the place where the light show had happened there was a large patch of flattened grass almost 5 meters wide next to some strange holes .

On closer inspection, he noticed something glittering in the nearby grass. As she got closer, she noticed that it was a circular metal plate. This appeared to be copper and measured 17.3 cm wide by 12.5 cm high.

On it were some hieroglyphic -like carvings that he couldn’t decipher. The man picked up the copper plate and found that it was barely 1mm thick. LR was convinced that it had been left behind by aliens piloting the UFOs.

Cover-up by the authorities?

Thinking no one would believe him, he decided to keep the plaque for years. When she returned to Italy 6 years later, she took the artifact with her.

He doesn’t know how, but word spread that he had that strange object, so a magazine focused on unsolved mysteries called Il Giornale dei Misteri contacted him.

UFO researcher Daniela Giordano was in charge of interviewing him. She told him that she was not interested in analyzing the plate. It was like a lucky charm for him. She was also not a very interested person in UFOs or related things.

So, Giordano decided to ask a friend who lived near the man to take a photo and send it to him.

The image on the plate is the only evidence of the strange event. The researcher was in contact with LR years later and he told her that he had lost her one day when she went to work. The police stopped him at any moment and confiscated his car after forcing him to stop with gunshots.

A week later the car and all his belongings were returned to him, except for the license plate . When he inquired about it, he was told “there was no such object in the car.”

This mysterious wave of UFOs and the “alien copper plate” incident are some of the strangest occurrences in Canadian history. Nobody knows what happened to the object and everything seems to indicate that the story will remain like this.
