The Society of Catholic Scientists is preparing for an extraterrestrial intelligences meeting

The Society of Catholic Scientists (SCS) will host a conference on non-human intelligences in Washington, DC in 2021.

The meeting, dubbed “Aliens, AI, and Minds Beyond Human,” will take place from June 4-6 at the Hilton Hotel. The case will also be streamed online on the internet.

The conference will address actual and hypothetical intelligences, including extraterrestrial and artificial intelligences, from a scientific and theological perspective.

«There will be a total of 13 talks. The first half of the conference will focus on extraterrestrial intelligence, with talks from some of the world’s leading experts on the topic “The president of the Society of Catholic Scientists, Dr. Stephen Barr, told the CNA news agency. Four invited speakers from astrophysics, astrochemistry, evolutionary biology, and Catholic theology will address the existence of extraterrestrial life from their respective fields of study: astrophysics, astrochemistry, evolutionary biology, and Catholic theology. Jonathan Lunine, director of the Cornell Center for Astrophysics and Planetary Sciences; Karin berg, Professor of Astronomy and Director of Undergraduate Studies at Harvard University; Simon Conway Morris, chair of Evolutionary Paleobiology at the University of Cambridge; and Christopher Baglow, director of the McGrath Institute for Chumash Studies; and Jonathan Lunine, director of the Cornell Center for Astrophysics and Planetary Sciences “[berg] is a rising star at Harvard, where he is a senior lecturer and has already converted to Catholicism. She is a specialist in extraterrestrial biochemistry “According to Barr. “Astronomers have recently detected a vast number of planets orbiting other nearby stars, which has sparked a lot of interest. They could learn a lot about these planets, including their distance from the star, their size, and, in some situations, even their chemistry.

The St. Albert Award Conference will be delivered by Lawrence Principe, a professor of humanities at Johns Hopkins University. Two poster sessions will be held at the meeting, one for presentations on the conference theme and the other for presentations on subjects such as research and religion.
