Venus Williams Steal the Spotlight at New Lacoste Event

Tennis and fashion have always enjoyed a unique relationship, and this connection is more evident than ever. Players are making bold statements not only on the court but also at prestigious fashion events, showcasing their distinctive styles. Paris Fashion Week serves as the latest platform for this exciting crossover.

Leading the way is tennis royalty, Venus Williams, who is making a significant impact alongside Ayan Broomfield, Frances Tiafoe’s girlfriend. Both have been turning heads at the event, proving they can dominate the fashion scene just as effortlessly as they do in their sport. Their presence highlights the seamless blend of athleticism and elegance, reaffirming tennis players as influential figures in the world of fashion.

At Paris Fashion Week, Ayan Broomfield and Venus Williams once again captivated fans, demonstrating that tennis extends beyond the courts and that fashion is an essential aspect of the sport. Williams, the American tennis star, turned heads in a vibrant knitted dress in a bold shade of yellow at Lacoste’s show on Tuesday.

Seated in the front row for the brand’s spring 2025 ready-to-wear collection, Williams showcased a sleeveless outfit resembling a maxidress, complete with a halter neck and plunging neckline. She accessorized her look with a gold chain necklace, yellow shoes, and a green tote bag emblazoned with the iconic crocodile logo.

Broomfield also made a stunning impression with her outfit, further solidifying the duo’s status as fashion icons within the tennis community. Their presence at the event reaffirmed the dynamic interplay between tennis and high fashion, leaving a lasting impression on attendees and fans alike.

The Canadian star was spotted in a white knitted attire that had a green and golden border near the neckline. The logo of the company was clearly seen on the attire, which was accompanied by a necklace and a pair of brown shades. Broomfield also carried a white handbag with her, which complemented her look immensely. Sharing her pictures on Instagram which also featured Venus Williams, Broomfield wrote, “oh @lacoste you 𝓀𝒾𝓁𝓁ed that #LacosteSS25.” For the unversed, Broomfield is known for her affection for the simple colors to which she adds her flare and style.

Speaking about the same in an interview with Grazia, Broomfield said, “I like to take somewhat simple pieces and add my own flare to make them unique, using accessories, texture, prints, and even color.” But when it comes to Williams, she is known for attire that can amalgamate tennis styles and fashion together. Speaking about the same to Harper’s Bazaar, Williams said, “I like to be unique, and I also like to wear things that I feel confident in,” adding that she wishes to inspire her fans by amalgamating tennis and fashion.

I’ve always loved seeing people embracing tennis core and incorporating it into everyday style in their own unique way. Tennis has long been at the intersection of sports and fashion, and Lacoste was one of those pioneers who helped elevate sports-chic looks.” Interestingly, Williams and Broomfield’s friendship is not just limited to fashion or tennis.

When Venus Williams wanted a special favor from Ayan Broomfield

Venus Williams and Ayan Broomfield have often turned heads with their unique styles, but they are also known for some on-screen stints. One such moment was witnessed in the 2021 movie, King Richard, which also featured Broomfield on the screen.

Broomfield acted as the body double for Saniyya Sidney, who played the role of Venus Williams in the ‘King Richard’ movie. She was hand-selected to play the tennis scenes in the movie by the legendary Venus Williams herself, who believed her to be the best fit for the role. This, in turn, sparked great respect from the Canadian star, who highlighted her dedication to the role.

Speaking in an interview, Broomfield said, “That was probably one of the highlights of my tennis career. They were very in tune with what was going on, on the set and overlooked the script.I had to study a lot to make sure that I was as Venus-esque as possible because you want to do her justice, pay homage to what she did for the sport and for the Black community”

For now, it would be interesting to see if Williams and Broomfield share more such images and engage in more fashion-related activities off the court.
