SOUTH ‘NBA’ PARK Devin booker isn’t look like him
Jimmy Butler can get a max extension from the Philadelphia 76ers if he can get a trade with the Miami Heat
In their pursuit of Jimmy Butler this summer, the Philadelphia 76ers will spare no expense. If the team can acquire Butler, 34, in a trade in the next few months, league insider Keith Pompey said they will offer him a max extension.
“The Sixers view him as a fallback option if they are unable to sign Paul George in free agency,” Pompey said. “And, according to sources, the Sixers are prepared to give Butler a maximum-salary extension if things align and he forces a trade out of Miami.”
The entire NBA is on high alert due to the reports that Paul George could split with the Clippers and the fact that he has been the 76ers’ primary target all month. But with George’s future up in the air and interest from other clubs, the 76ers needed a backup plan, and Butler fit the bill.
Since joining the Heat in 2019, 34-year-old Butler has been the team’s driving force. However, rumors of a breakup in South Beach have been circulating for some time, and this has created an opportunity for him to go back to what he knows: the playoffs.

While Butler’s effect will certainly be diminished after five years, the 76ers may have finally found what they need with Tyrese Maxey’s breakout, giving them a shot at an Eastern Conference playoff run. Though Embiid has failed to go past the second round thus far, they will not give up hope of a breakthrough.
The 76ers Rejected Jimmy Butler in Favor of Tobias Harris This year,It was likely the 76ers’ mistake not to re-sign Butler during the 2019 summer. Instead, they let him leave that summer as locker room tensions rose, and he signed a new four-year, $140.8 million deal to play for the Miami Heat.
The Sixers signed Tobias Harris to a five-year, $180 million deal that summer after he was offered the option to join the team over Butler. After the 76ers were eliminated from the playoffs, Butler made history by famously addressing the decision, which some would describe as a mistake, and asking, “You chose Tobias Harris over me?!”
The 76ers felt Butler was an affront to team spirit and his performance wasn’t good enough to deserve his continued employment. Although Butler had a reputation for being rather irritable when he was with the 76ers, he disproved their claims in every respect by leading his new club to two Finals visits while his previous one has failed to advance past the Conference Finals.
Although it may be his last chance for a title at this point in his career, Butler has yet to indicate whether he would ever contemplate returning to the 76ers to rejoin forces with Embiid. As his NBA career winds down, he has the opportunity to secure a comfortable income for the foreseeable future.
