Lewis Hamilton sent a heartfelt message to friend Serena Williams after the tennis star announced that she is expecting her second child. Williams and her husband Alexis Ohanian have a five-year-old daughter together named Olympia Ohanian, born in 2017. But the couple are now expecting another baby and announced the news at the Met Gala on Monday. “Was so excited when Anna Wintour invited the 3 of us to the Met Gala,” Williams captioned as she posted a photo of her and Ohanian dressed in formal attire.
The 23-time Grand Slam winner showed off her baby bump as she posed for a photo shoot in a stunning black dress. And Hamilton couldn’t contain his excitement about the news.
He commented: “Many Blessings.” Hamilton has always been a great admirer of Williams and has never shied away from heaping praise on his close friend. Following her retirement late last year, Hamilton paid tribute to the sporting icon on social media.
“Taking a moment before the race today to show my appreciation and gratitude to the greatest of all time, Serena Williams,” he wrote. “We will never see another Serena. She’s one of a kind; She came through like a wrecking ball and has been so spectacular to witness. She has such fierceness, power, and strength in both body and mind. To be so bold, Black, brave and, above all, a kind and caring human being is beautiful.”
Williams and Hamilton have known each other for years and regularly attend each other’s sporting events when they can fit it around their busy schedules. Speaking about their ‘super close’ friendship, Williams said of the seven-time Formula 1 winner: “He [Lewis Hamilton] is for me the greatest driver that our generation has seen. I’m confident that he will break the record of Michael Schumacher, who was also a fabulous driver.
