Do you remember the last time when you were staying in a five-star resort? Well, one thing is for sure: these horses of Qatar’s Al Shaqab equestrian center do remember it. They have everything needed for a horse in there: a swimming pool, beauty parlor, gymnasium, personal trainers, a maternity unit and en suite performance arenas.
All these horses have individually tailored fitness, grooming sessions, and private racetracks where they enjoy leg stretching gallops on a private racetrack. Al Shaqab is a fancy contemporary facility that reflection Qatar’s obsession with horses. l Shaqab, which dates back to 1992, was developed to create a world-class equestrian center and to preserve historic Qatari traditions of breeding Arabian horses.
Even nowadays, Al Shaqab still stands as an enduring tribute to the Arabian horse. Spread out over 980,000 square meters and with a stable capacity for more than 400 horses, it is worth mentioning Al Shaqab’s dynamic architectural design with a central horseshoe shape.
Al Shaqab’s breeding philosophy, preserving Arabian horse values as it is mentioned before is divided into three categories: International Arabian horses, combining all Arabian bloodlines; Straight Egyptian Arabians, as defined by The Pyramid Society; and the traditional Qatari bloodlines of the past.
Some of the stallion breeds include Al Adeed Al Shaqab, Amir Al Shaqa, Fadi Al Shaqab, etc. We strongly believe that Al Shaqab’s mission is a very good cause because this is a perfect way how to prevent this beautiful species from becoming endangered.
