Victor Wembanyama, a French basketball player, is the newest client of Louis Vuitton (PARIS:MC.PA -0.21%).
“Wemby,” a power-forward, has become an official representative of the French house. He joins a growing roster of notable athletes, which currently includes Naomi Osaka and Carlos Alcaraz of tennis, Enzo Lefort of fencing, Leon Marchand of swimming, and Enzo Lefort of skiing. Wembanyama will represent the brand at key events and be featured in the label’s promotional imagery in his new position.
“With an unwavering commitment to perfection and a relentless pursuit of excellence, Victor becomes a member of Louis Vuitton, embarking on a journey characterized by mutual values and congruent aspirations.” “The young athlete, much like Louis Vuitton, has established a precedent by excelling in a nascent career,” the French luxury brand said in a statement.
Wembanyama was chosen by the San Antonio Spurs with the first overall selection in the 2023 NBA Draft.
His appearance at the draft donning a dark green Louis Vuitton suit signified the start of his association with the illustrious label.
Wembanyama has established several records since his debut with the Spurs, and according to WWD, his jersey has ranked as the fourth most popular NBA product in the first half of the year, trailing only the jerseys of Stephen Curry, Jayson Tatum, and LeBron James.
