During Friday evening’s opening ceremony of the Summer Olympics in Paris, stars Coco Gauff and LeBron James of the Los Angeles Lakers carried the American flag for Team USA as its boat across the Seine river in the pouring rain.
People were quick to comment with their own memes and interpretations after seeing the moving image.
On behalf of Team USA, James is going for gold medal number three at the Olympics. Just before Paris, he guided the United States to a perfect 5-0 record in exhibition play. He was especially impressive in a pair of games against South Sudan and Germany, where he scored the game-winning basket with eight seconds remaining to seal a 101-100 victory.
