But there are instances when it’s just not your night. It is unfortunate for the Los Angeles Lakers that they are playing at a point in the season that is not the most favorable for a game of that nature.
As a result of the Golden State Warriors scoring a season-high 26 three-pointers, which also tied a team record, the Los Angeles Lakers were defeated by a score of 134-120. Anthony Davis was absent from the game on Tuesday night due to headaches and nausea, and LeBron James was a game-time decision due to an illness.
Because of this, their chances of winning an automatic playoff berth were significantly diminished, and they ended the season with a record of 45-35, which placed them 2.5 games behind the New Orleans Pelicans for the sixth slot as a result.
Furthermore, it brought them one step closer to securing the tenth seed in the Western Conference, which would signify that they would not be able to host a game in the Play-In Tournament:
Despite being under the weather, James fought with all his might and finished with 33 points, 11 assists, and seven rebounds. Golden State’s shooting performance was nothing short of spectacular, spearheaded by the likes of Klay Thompson (27 points, 5-of-10 from three-point range) and Stephen Curry (23 points, eight assists, seven rebounds, 6-for-6 from three).
Draymond Green even participated in the action, making five of seven three-point shots on his way to a total of 15 points and ten assists. You know you’re in trouble when Green is behaving in a manner that is reminiscent of a Splash Brother.
Even though this was the case, the performance of the Lakers was nonetheless a source of disappointment for many people on social media, particularly when considering the backdrop of the playoff positioning:
Due to the fact that they have lost two games in a row, the Lakers have not had a very good week. At this point in the season, the club will be playing the Memphis Grizzlies on Friday and the New Orleans Pelicans on Sunday during the final two games.
It is possible that the Warriors, who have defeated them three out of four times this season, will be waiting for them in the first game of the Play-In Tournament.
During the previous season, the Lakers were able to bypass the Play-In Tournament. However, there have been very few teams that have been more unpredictable than this group, which is why a pair of win-or-go home scenarios are utterly unnerving for fans of the Lakers.
