After tying a humiliating NFL record with his trade to the Dallas Cowboys, Brandin Cooks offers an intriguing perspective

The WR wanted to be traded from the Texans before the trade deadline in 2022, but Houston couldn’t find a trade partner thanks to its steep asking price at the time.

That asking price came down when the Cowboys acquired the veteran wide receiver from the Texans in exchange for a 2023 fifth-round pick and a 2024 sixth-round pick.

Cooks’ journey to the Cowboys comes after a tumultuous 2022 season, during which he expressed his unhappiness with the club after he wasn’t dealt at the trade deadline.

In a post shared via ESPN’s Todd Archer, Cooks made it clear that he does not take it personally that so many teams have passed him around the league. He looks at it as so many would love to have his services on their team, and in this league, it is nice to be wanted than unwanted.

“I’ve really never gotten upset because obviously, that means someone out there wants me to be a part of their group… I think I’m just fortunate enough to be able to play with so many great organizations and make an impact in this league everywhere I’ve been. It excites me. I think it’s special because that means I didn’t get to free agency so people jumping the gun to get me before I get there. So that’s the way I look at it. I look at it in a positive light,” Cooks said.

Cooks has spent time with the New England Patriots, Los Angeles Rams, Houston Texans, and now the Dallas Cowboys.

Cooks, who turns 30 in September, figures to be an ideal fit for a Cowboys offense that lacked a dependable second WR to go alongside CeeDee lamb. Cooks provides a vertical deep threat they could’ve used during their foiled 2022 playoff run.

The team only scored 12 points against the 49ers in the Divisional Round. The second-leading receiver behind CeeDee Lamb in that defeat was Noah Brown, who had two receptions for 21 yards.

Cooks changes everything.
